Current Openings:

 

Editor

As a Palmetto Publishing Group Editor, you’ll prepare an author’s manuscript for publication. You will be expected to ensure that the work being produced has high literary merit and is free of inconsistencies as well as grammatical and spelling errors.

 

We deal with a large variety of book types, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, reference books, textbooks, technical books, and children’s books. As an editor, you’ll be expected to have background/knowledge of the following:

  • Microsoft Word

  • Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS)

  • Track changes

  • Experience editing manuscripts

  • Standard manuscript formatting

 

Prior to being given your first assignment, you will be given five sample pages of a manuscript to edit. The sample edit will be reviewed by our Editor in Chief before moving forward.

Book Cover Designer

As a Palmetto Publishing Group Cover Designer, you’ll create an author's full cover design including the back, spine, and front. You will be expected to ensure that the work being produced is of high quality and creativity.

 

We deal with a large variety of book types, including fiction, nonfiction, poetry, reference books, textbooks, technical books, and children’s books.

 

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Experience creating book covers 

  • Adobe Photoshop

  • Adobe InDesign

  • Photo manipulation, typography, and image resolution

  • Ability to execute designs for a variety of genres

  • Organized and able to attend to details while managing multiple projects at the same time

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to speak directly with authors

Illustrator

As a Palmetto Publishing Group Illustrator, you’ll create custom illustrations for book covers and interiors. You will be expected to ensure that the work being produced is of high quality and creativity. Our Illustrators will typically illustrate children's books; however, illustrations for other genres may be requested.

 

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Project experience in custom illustration and/or proficiency with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator

  • Creating imagery that reflects scenes depicted in manuscripts

  • Adherent to deadlines and quality consciousness

  • Receptive to critique and willing to make changes requested by the author

  • Able to provide initial illustration sketches before adding color
